David Preston made the Chase by the skin of his teeth, but he made the most of it by winning the 2009 Tribute Cup Chase Championship.It didn't come without controversy though.The point's leader Brian Mellendorf was penalized all race points for intentional wrecking during the race at Homestead. Mellendorf on lap 75 was involved in a incident on exiting turn 4. Later on lap 77 Mellendorf ran into and spun the other driver involved on pit road.The series admins met after the race and discussed what the penalty should be. After deliberate dicussions on the following day the admins announced that Mellendorf would be striped of all race points. That would hand the Chase Championship to David Preston by 20 points. Preston was quoted as saying "he did not want to win it this way". In the end however it will go down as one of the best Chase come backs ever. So Congradulations To David Preston on the 2009 STRL Tribute Cup Chase Championship.
