Mellendorf Wins at Homestead
Homestead-Miami, FL. – Brian Mellendorf came into the Homestead race with the Championship already wrapped up. So when he took to the track he had only one thing in mind and that was to win the race, and he did just that. Mellendorf started from the pole and lead early but faded back in the field as Jeff Sykes took the lead away from him. Being the veteran that Mellendorf is he didn’t panic. He steadily worked his way back up through the pack. When the yellow came out on lap 69 wreck, Mellendorf rolled the dice and stayed out on older tires as the rest of the field pitted. Mellendorf would go on to hold off a hard charging Danny Sanchez and Mike Garaguso to take the win. His seventh of the season. The series heads into the winter off season. The trucks will be back on the track in February at Dayton.
