Preston Dominates in the Desert
Phoenix, AZ. – David Preston came into the Phoenix race needing to score maximum points and hope that Brian Mellendorf had troubles in order to have a shot at the Championship. Well Preston done his part but Mellendorf scored a second place finish and all but clinched the Championship. All Mellendorf has to do is start the final race at homestead-Miami to claim the 2009 Championship. Horace Brooks won the pole with a lap of 27.738 seconds. Preston started on the outside of the front row and would get the lead on lap 31 and go on to lead the most laps with 87 total. Preston would hold off Mellendorf after several late race restarts to get the win. The series is off next week to celebrate Thanksgiving. They hit the track again on Dec. 3rd in the final race of the season at homestead-Miami Speedway.
