Mellendorf Hangs on for Win at Martinsville
Martinsville, Va.—Electing to stay out on older tires Brian Mellendorf held off a hard charging Keith Mclain to take the win at Martinsville. Mellendorf made the race winning pass with about 25 laps to go as the leader Dana Webster started to fade. Mellendorf then survived a late race restart with Rick Hubler putting pressure on him, even getting up beside him on the outside a couple of times. Keith Mclain won the pole with a lap of 21.339 seconds and would lead the most laps with 70 but come up just on spot shy of the win. Jeff Sykes finished in 3rd followed by Dana Webster in 4th and David Gibson in 5th. The series heads to the high banks of Talladega next week.
