Kansas City, Ka. – Brian Mellendorf took a big step towards the 2009 Tribute Cup Title with a big win at Kansas. Running in second behind David Preston on the restart with 18 laps to go, Mellendorf worked and worked on Preston until he was finally able to make the pass and take the checkers. Preston would hold off Horace Brooks to finish in second. Horace Brooks won the pole with a lap of 29.414 seconds. Brooks would go on to finish in third with a strong long run car. Jason Vannatta and Danny Sanchez finished out the top five finishers. The Tribute Cup Series heads out west to Auto Club Speedway next week.
