Brooks Captures Win at Bristol
Bristol, Tn. – Horace Brooks thrilled his hometown crowd by pulling off an unlikely win. Running back in the top five most of the night he seemed just a tick off of the leaders pace. When a caution came out with 10 laps to go Brooks rolled the dice and gambled on a two tire stop. The gamble paid off as he was able to hold Jeff Sykes and a hard charging Brian Mellendorf to get the win. Mellendorf who had led every lap up until the final 10 took four tires but could only make up one spot in the final laps. The win was Brooks’ first of the season for the part time driver. Mellendorf still has a commanding lead in the point standings. The series heads to the windy city for some fast pace action at the Chicagoland Speedway next week.
